Our process

Build night, step by step.

A fire feature is built in six stops, from the design visit to the first flame. Here is exactly what happens, in order, and what you need to do before and after.

The six stops

Follow the fuse.

  1. The design visit step of building a fire pit
    Day 1

    The design visit

We walk the yard together, talk about how you gather, check sun, wind and clearances and bring stone, glass and metal samples to hold up in your own light. You leave with a plan and a written estimate.

  2. Layout and permits step of building a fire pit
    Day 3 to 10

    Layout and permits

The fire pit is marked out on the ground with paint and string so you can stand inside it. We confirm clearances, utility locates, permits and any HOA approval before a shovel moves.

  3. Gas line and base step of building a fire pit
    Week 2

    Gas line and base

Gas lines are trenched, run and pressure tested by qualified installers, propane tanks are set and screened and the footing and compacted base are built to last through freeze and thaw.

  4. The structure goes up step of building a fire pit
    Week 2 to 3

    The structure goes up

Stone, block or steel goes up course by course. Walls, caps, seat walls and the liner are built by hand, with the heat-rated parts exactly where the fire will be.

  5. Burner and finish step of building a fire pit
    Week 3

    Burner and finish

The burner, ignition and controls are installed, fire glass or lava rock is laid, caps are set and every joint is checked. Lighting, plantings and the patio around it get their finishing touches.

  6. First light step of building a fire pit
    Night one

    First light

We light it with you, walk you through the controls, the safety shutoffs and the care routine, then leave you with a pit that is ready for its first long evening.

Before we build

Your build checklist.

  • Tell us about gas, propane and electric lines you know of
  • Share your HOA rules and any plans you have for the yard
  • Keep pets and kids clear of the work area and trenches
  • Move planters, furniture and grills away from the site
  • Know that weather and inspections can shift the schedule
  • Be reachable for layout questions on layout day
Our standards

Six promises we keep.

Safe before pretty

Clearances, liners, shutoffs and permits are planned first. A fire feature should be easy to relax beside.

Designed for your yard

Sun, wind, slope, trees and sight lines shape the layout, not a catalog photo.

Built by hand, lit with you

Our crew builds it and we light it with you, walking through every control and shutoff.

Straight written pricing

A written estimate that lists the structure, fuel, burner, finish and permits so you can compare fairly.

Serviced after the build

Tune-ups, repairs and parts for the features we build and the ones we did not.

Local to your yard

We build in 28 Middle Tennessee cities, from Nashville courtyards to Williamson County acreage.

Good questions

Process questions

How long does a fire pit take to build?

A simple pit can be finished in a few days. Gas pits with a new line usually take one to two weeks, and fireplaces or full patios run three to eight weeks or more, depending on permits and weather. We give you a schedule with the estimate.

Do I need a permit for a fire pit or fireplace?

Gas lines, masonry fireplaces and permanent structures often do, and many HOAs require approval. We check the rules for your city first and prepare the drawings and paperwork where they are needed.

What cities do you serve?

We serve 28 cities across Middle Tennessee, from Franklin, Brentwood and Murfreesboro to Hendersonville, Clarksville and Cookeville. If your town is not listed, call 615-357-7797 and we will confirm.

How do I get started?

Fill in the form on any page or call or text 615-357-7797. We schedule a free visit, bring samples, walk the yard with you and send a written estimate.

Is a gas fire pit safe?

A properly installed gas fire pit has an accessible shutoff, flame supervision and tested connections, and it burns without sparks. We install to local code, teach you the shutoffs and offer yearly safety inspections.
