Two-Sided & See-Through Fireplaces
Double-sided fireplaces that glow into a covered porch and an open patio at once, wood-burning or gas, built into a wall or a freestanding divider.
- Opening: Two-sided, 36 to 60 in wide
- Structure: Masonry or engineered prefab
- Fuel: Gas or wood
What it is, and why it works.
A see-through fireplace shares one flame between two spaces: the covered porch on one side and the open patio on the other, or a living area and a dining nook. It lets people gather near the warmth wherever they are, and it makes a wall feel like a feature instead of a barrier.
They are among the most complex fireplaces to build, because the firebox needs two openings, the draft has to behave from both sides and the structure has to carry the chimney. We design the opening height, depth and flue carefully, then face both sides to match their surroundings. Many Nashville porches and breezeways are ideal for a two-sided fireplace that links indoors and out.

See-Through Fireplaces: common questions
Does smoke blow out of both sides?
A properly designed flue draws well from both openings. Gas models avoid the issue entirely. We discuss wood versus gas for your layout before building.
Is a see-through fireplace more expensive?
Generally yes, because of the larger structure and double finishing. We give a written breakdown so you can compare with a single-sided design.
How do I get a price for see-through fireplaces?
Fill in the form or call 615-357-7797. We schedule a free visit, bring samples and send a written estimate that lists exactly what is included.
