Fire Pit Liners, Inserts & Rings

Heat-rated steel rings, firebrick liners and gas inserts custom-fit to protect old and new fire pits from heat damage.

  • Materials: 3/16 to 1/4 in steel, firebrick
  • Fit: Custom-measured
  • Fuel: Wood or gas
The overview

What it is, and why it works.

A good liner is the difference between a pit that lasts and one that cracks. Steel rings shield stone from direct flame, firebrick holds heat in masonry and gas inserts turn an old wood pit into a clean-burning gas feature. Without them, intense heat can crack stone, spall brick and shorten the life of the whole structure.

We measure and fabricate custom rings in thick steel, set firebrick liners with the right mortar and fit inserts and burner pans to existing pits. Plenty of older Nashville fire pits were built without any liner at all and are overdue for one before the next winter.

Good questions

Liners & Inserts: common questions

Does every fire pit need a liner?

Most masonry pits benefit from one. Steel and some manufactured pits are designed without, but a custom liner can still extend life.

How long does a steel fire ring last?

Quality 3/16 or 1/4 inch steel can last many years, though it will rust and may need replacing sooner than firebrick.
