What it is, and why it works.
Steel fire pits have a different attitude from stone: clean lines, bold shapes and a surface that changes with the weather. Corten, or weathering steel, develops a warm orange-brown patina that suits gardens and modern homes. Stainless stays bright and black powder-coated steel gives a crisp, contemporary edge.
We fabricate bowls, rings, boxes and cutout designs in steel thick enough to hold its shape under heat, with burners or wood grates sized to the vessel. A steel pit looks right among Nashville's mix of modern infill homes and rustic wooded lots, and it can sit on a pad, a pedestal or a gravel bed without a masonry footing.

Will Corten steel stain my patio?
Fresh weathering steel can bleed rust while it patinas. We pre-weather and seal pieces and use bases that protect pavers and concrete.
Does steel get dangerously hot?
The outside warms up, so we space seating and use guards or insulated designs where children or pets are around.
