What it is, and why it works.
Masonry is the traditional answer, and it is still the best. Firebrick lines the firebox, a smoke chamber and flue guide the draft and the exterior is faced in stone or brick laid by hand, with mortar joints tooled to suit the style. A masonry fireplace holds heat long after the fire fades and can last for generations.
Every one is drawn to the house it stands beside: the arch of the opening, the depth of the hearth, the profile of the mantel and the shape of the chimney. We source stone and brick that match local homes in Nashville and Williamson County, from weathered fieldstone to crisp limestone, and we set masonry the right way, with footings, steel and flashing where it counts.

Masonry Fireplaces: common questions
How long does a masonry fireplace last?
Built with a proper footing, flue and firebrick, a masonry fireplace commonly lasts many decades. Mortar joints and the chimney cap are the parts that need occasional attention.
Can you match my brick exactly?
We can usually find a very close match, and we bring samples to compare in your light. Aged brick is the hardest to match, so we plan extra time for it.
