Fire & Water Features
Bowls, basins, scuppers and fountains where gas flames and flowing water share the same sculptural feature.
- Basin: Concrete, stone or steel
- Fuel: Natural gas or propane
- Water: Recirculating pump
What it is, and why it works.
Fire and water are opposites that look stunning together: a flame dancing above a still basin, water spilling over a lip beside a burning column, light and reflection doubling the glow. These features create a calm, mesmerizing focal point in courtyards, entries and pool areas.
They also require two systems to coexist safely: gas lines, drainage, pumps, waterproofing and electrical all have to be planned together. We design the basin, set the burner above the water line, install the pumps and test the combination so it runs reliably. In Nashville courtyards and entries, a fire and water feature adds sound and light that make a small space feel like a retreat.

Fire & Water Features: common questions
Does the water put out the flame?
No, the burner sits above the water line, and the design keeps spray and splash away from the flame. We test the combination before handing it over.
How much maintenance does a fire and water feature need?
Occasional water top-ups, a clean basin and a yearly check of the burner. We give you a simple seasonal checklist.
