What it is, and why it works.
Good fires start with good wood, and good wood starts with good storage. Seasoned hardwood stays dry on a raised, ventilated rack with a roof, while wet, rotting wood lights poorly, smokes and attracts pests. A tidy wood area also makes your patio look intentional instead of improvised.
We build niches into seat walls and fireplaces, freestanding racks in black iron or cedar and small covered stores near the pit with a chopping spot and a place for tools. Around Nashville, where humid summers can ruin a stacked pile, ventilation and a roof make the difference.

Firewood Storage: common questions
How long should firewood season?
Most hardwood needs 6 to 12 months of drying, stacked off the ground with air flow and a roof. Dry wood burns hotter and cleaner.
Can I store firewood next to the house?
Keep it away from structures to reduce fire and pest risk, ideally some distance away. We place storage accordingly.
