Hardscape Patios & Pavers for Fire Areas
Paver, natural stone and concrete patios engineered as fire-safe floors, with borders, steps, edging and drainage.
- Materials: Pavers, flagstone, concrete
- Base depth: 6 to 10 in typical
- Edge: Restrained and drained
What it is, and why it works.
The floor beneath the fire pit does more than look good. It has to be level, drain water, resist heat and last through freeze and thaw. Interlocking pavers, natural flagstone or poured concrete can all work, and each has its strengths in color, pattern and cost.
We build hardscapes on a deep compacted base with edge restraints, proper slopes for drainage and heat-safe zones around the fire. We also design borders, steps and curves that make the patio feel finished. Around Nashville's clay soils, the base underneath is the difference between a patio that stays level and one that heaves.

Hardscape Patios: common questions
Which is best around a fire pit: pavers, stone or concrete?
Each can work. Concrete and natural stone handle heat well, and many pavers do too when rated for it. We match the material to your style and budget and keep combustibles away.
Will pavers sink?
Not when the base is deep and compacted. Poorly prepared bases are the main reason pavers settle.
